New Year, New Goodies

A new design using vintage pearls.

I got this vintage picture of Marie Antoinette from the Graphics Fairy and used it in one of my pendants. The pearls and rhinestone earring in the background are vintage.

I found this filigree piece with rhinestones at an antique store and made it into a bracelet using vintage pearls and an antique chandelier crystal. It's absolutely beautiful on!

Some of my favorite vintage pieces.

I hope these pictures of my new bling will inspire a sparkling New Year!!!

I Wish You A Very Merry Christmas!

A beautiful serene vintage card of Mary from Karen at The Graphics Fairy.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas and I wish everyone a new season full of happiness, love, fortune, and joy. I have so enjoyed having this wonderful blog site as a creative outlet and and a place to meet wonderful people who share similar interests and a love of beautiful things. Thank you for all of your sweet comments and your inspiration.
Sincerely, Melinda

I did a favor yesterday,
A kindly little deed...
And then I called to all the world
To stop and look and heed.
They stopped and looked and flattered me
In words I could not trust,
And when the world had gone away
My good deed turned to dust.
A very tiny courtesy
I found to do today;
'Twas quickly done, with none to see,
And then I ran away...
But Someone must have witnessed it,
For - truly I declare -
As I sped back the stony path
Roses were blooming there!

This is one of my favorite poems that I found in a wonderful book called Apples of Gold compiled by Jo Petty.

Vintage Christmas Monday V

I just picked up this great vintage Christmas ornament last week at an antique store. It's a beautiful silvery sage color with a frosty village scene on both sides. It matches some smaller ornaments that I already had perfectly.

Here are some pretty glittery vintage inspired bells I got from Shabby Chic last Christmas before the store was sadly closed.

And last but not least -  a new jewelry design.

This has to be my favorite design by far.
It's made with vintage pieces as well as new montana blue fire-polished Czech glass beads. The pendant is an old religious card I found on the Graphic Fairys blog site.

A New Design...Finally

After what seems like a life-time, I have finally brought out a new design. This was a new venture for me in regards to soldering my own pendants. It was not as easy as I thought it would be, but eventually I got the hang of it and was really happy with the end results. I hope you all like it.

The above design is made with vintage pearls and white glass beads. The picture is one I found on the graphic's fairy blog site. I loved the sacred heart picture so much, and I thought it would look great coupled with the picture of the woman holding the cross below which is on the reverse side.

I love this woman's serene expression. She is so lovely. I also added a vintage rosary medal to compliment the design.

Here I added the sacred heart necklace with a longer vintage piece. I love the way they look together.

Here's another pendant I made and just added it to a long vintage pearl necklace.
I'm hard at work on more new designs, so stay tuned.

Vintage Christmas Monday IIII

Welcome to Vintage Christmas Monday IIII

Some great vintage inspired red bottle brush trees and snowmen. The red ornaments and the small cream colored bottle brush tree with the red ornaments are vintage. I did red and white in my kitchen this year, the rest of the house is done in sepia tones.

I hope you all have a great week, and check back later in the week for some of my new jewelry designs. Hopefully I will have a least a couple of necklaces done to show you. Take care.

Vintage Christmas Monday III

Welcome to Vintage Christmas Monday a bit early.
Here are some vintage silver and silvery sage Christmas ornaments thrown in with some vintage rhinestone necklaces. The old cream painted door in the background is one of my favorites.

Another vantage point.

Make sure and check out all of the Vintage Christmas Monday participants. The full listing of all the participants can be found on Joans', our host, blog site, Anything Goes Here. There are some beautiful pictures out there. Happy Monday!

Christmas Card Photos

We started taking photos yesterday for our family Christmas cards and let me tell you it was not easy.
If one boy was smiling the other was crying and vise-versa. My older son thought it would be fun to make silly faces every time our picture was taken. This is the only one were our boys look happy and adorable. Unfortunately, I wasn't looking at the camera, but I think it turned out really sweet anyway.

I have been hard at work with new jewelry designs the past few days. There will be more vintage elements to them this time around. I have been scouring antique stores around our small town and actually found tons of vintage jewelry tidbits to use. This was not an easy task being that antique stores and flea markets are very few and far between in the area we live now. I'm use to going to a different flea market every weekend where I use to live, but not here. Anyway, I look forward to showing you all the completed designs soon.
