~A New Friend~

Happy Monday all.
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I went to the Antique Affair in Old Towne Orange as well as the Long Beach flea this weekend.
Can I just say that the prices at the flea market have gotten absolutely ridiculous!!  I was going to purchase some things for my vintage shop, but I would have had to triple the prices just to make a little money. I asked one of  the dealers if they could do a little better on this one item, and they said "Sure, I'll mark $2.00 off the item". $2.00? Is that really a deal? Anyway, I only ended up purchasing 2 things and then I got the heck out of there. It was packed and I had the kiddos with me. I couldn't even get a good look at most of the booths because no one wanted to let me in with the stroller.
Oh well, I think I'll stick with with the Irvine flea from now on. Better stuff and better prices!!
On a happier note, I met a new friend the other day at Country Roads, she's really sweet and has great form!
I invited her over, but I'm afraid my other 2 friends are going to be jealous! As it is, the other 2 barely speak to each other, so I have to keep them separated.
The more the merrier, I say! I asked if she wouldn't mind being photographed for the blog and being the sweet gal that she is she said, "absolutely"!
So here she is:

She's cute right?

Anyway, I'll be back later to show you more photos of her, she really is quite a ham! :)
Sincerely,
~Melinda

 Update:\
Lady #3 insisted I post more photos of her, BIG ham, remember? So here they are.

She thought she'd look great on a postage stamp! A little conceited if you ask me! She does look pretty with my necklace on though!
Don't tell her I told ya!

Up close and personal.
I'm beginning to think she may run out the other 2 girls.

Okay enough of her, here's some photos of my new vintage bucket. Yes , I said bucket! :)

I loved this bucket. Not too bad for the price, although if my mother knew what I paid for an old bucket with creamy white paint dripping down the side of it she'd say I was ridiculous! She just doesn't get my style!

Interested in lady #3's necklace. It's my new design, L'Amore 'E puro.
Love is Pure in Italian.

Okay, I'm sure you've all had enough of the photo hog, so I'll talk to you all later.
Have a great week everyone.
Sincerely,
~Melinda

  1. Hi Melinda Sweetie...
Oh my gosh, I absolutely adore your new friend. I can't wait to see what you name her. I have wanted one for a long time, and my search continues as well. What an addition to the family. She looks so HAPPY.

Yes I too, have noticed that some of the antique sales have gotten a little ridiculous. The prices with our economy as it stands right now. I agree, they are going to have to come down a little before we can shop with them again. No sales will help them get the idea I think. We will be patient.

Hope you have a beautiful Monday. Again, so happy to meet your new friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  6. I can understand the others may get jealous :) She is so cute. Wish I could find a reasonable one. I know what you mean about pricing these days... sometimes it does not seem like a flea market!

  8. Well, Miss Melinda, I just want you to know that "I DO" get your style and that whatever you paid for that bucket~ I see it was well worth it!
Your new lady is divine! I keep my DIVA sitting high on a stack of vintage luggage, adorned with lace and pearls and rhinestones. I don't know how she'd feel about sharing the attention so I'd rather not take that chance. I don't need any bickering or cat-fights in my bedroom, it would kill the restful vibe. lol

    Take care,
    Irma

  13. oh melinda she is simply gorgeous!!!
I love your styling with her.
I agree with ya on the fleamarkets. That is why I fly home to shop.
Well, I think a lot of people don't understand how tattered and chippy things make our hearts smile.

  14. So happy I had a moment to blog hop tonight. I loved this post, Melinda. She really IS quite a ham. Beautiful. Our fleas, yard sales, and auctions are pretty much like shopping retail anymore. :( Every once in a while, I'll score but it's rather discouraging. I'm forced to bid the "projects" at auction now. Your new design is gorgeous. I love what you've name her.

    Hugs,
    Jami

  19. Hi Melinda,

I came across this earlier post via your "Linked Within" and I cracked up because my mom is the same way!!! If she only knew how much I paid for some of the vintage things that I own, she'd be apalled! lol And I agree that many items at various flea markets can be hiked up way too much. Anyway, have a great night!

    XO's,
    Jessie

P.S. As I go through your earlier posts, I just ADORE your style that much MORE!!! ;)
