Life & Stuff~

Good morning all. Oh, whoops, it's actually early afternoon. I have been sick again with my stomach. I thought after a year I was finally feeling better, but it hit me again last night and I have felt just icky! I think it's about time to be tested for Gluten intolerance.

Anyway, I received my PSE 10 today and I am completely lost!! I kind if thought I would be. It took me probably an hour just to get the darn thing installed. It didn't just pop up and tell me what to do step by step, which would have been the logical thing for it to do right?

It probably doesn't help that I'm not feeling well because I'm more prone to get frustrated and to yell and want to throw my computer out the window. Although, now that I think about it, I probably wouldn't throw it out the window because it was so darn expensive! Talk about throwing money down the drain, or out the window. :) I know, I'm blabbering, sorry!

Anyway, I think I finally got it all downloaded, at least it actually popped up on the screen when I opened it on my desktop. But I have no idea what to do now. Can anyone tell me where to go for directions about how to work it? I feel like there really isn't any special about it so far, but that's probably because I have NO idea what I'm doing.

Hubby came home with some delicious Lemon Meringue pie the other day and I thought I would try my first "food" shot. Pretty bad right? But that's okay, once I learn how to shoot properly with a proper camera my photos will only improve. Speaking of cameras, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get it for my birthday in one more month.

My little one has been walking around the house the last couple of days with swim goggles on. As you can see, the lenses have disappeared so of course they can't be used any longer, that happened about 5 minutes after I bought them:)

And a very rare moment caught on film! This does not happen often believe me! It makes me wonder if this moment was staged by my little ones, they have been wanting a new toy lately, hmm?

I finally fixed up a little studio space for myself in our walk-in closet. It's just perfect for me to work on the computer and such. I'll show photos soon.

Hope you all have a great week!!
Sincerely,
Melinda

  2. Hi Melinda,
I laughed when I read your post as I have tried cheaper versions of photoshop and they're always so darn confusing, it's like to trying to speak fluent Japanese without any lessons.
I have been thinking of getting Photoshop Elements 10 and I will definitely be buying "Photoshop Elements for Dummies"; I read about it on a photography forum and apparently, it's an amazing easy to read manual for navigating your way around photoshop.
    Good luck!

  5. You get it all figured out and you can tell me what to do when I finally bite the bullet and buy it. I keep putting it off but I have a feeling I won't be able to do that too much longer....

    Feel better soon sweet girl.

  9. I hope you are feeling better. As for photoshop, I feel for you, I had it and when I crashed the computer I did not have hubby reinstall it because OMG it is so hard to work with. I even had a computer friend help me and I still could not remember it all. When I got stuck, I would google the question and see if someone could answer my question and that sometimes helped. GOOD LUCK.

  11. You poor girl! I hope that you find out soon what's causing your tummy problems, sweetie. I can't be of any help with your PS10. I've never used it, but I know that somebody out there will step up and show ya the ropes. :) Take a deep breath and count to 10 before you throw that computer out the window. :) Sending you big hugs!

  12. Hi Melinda,
Congrats on your purchase. I have PS Elements 10 but I started with PS 7 a few years ago and it's not too different. There are a lot of tutorials on youtube which helped me a lot though it took me forever to figure out how it do layers and textures. It's really easy! You should have gotten a link to a help site. I had it but I haven't used it that much and not sure if I saved it. I'll try to look for it.

    good luck,
    Carole

  13. Melinda, first I have to say that pie looks amazing!!!
And so does the photo, lol

Yes Photo shop makes me want to tear my hair out. Simple things that I learn seem to disappear from my head as soon as I learn something new on it. Granted I don't have the time to sit and learn it properly and I learn so much better hands on than thru manuals.

The simple fact is I don't use it enough to keep refreshed on it.

Good luck and wish I knew more of what to share with you.

  14. Hi Melinda,
So sorry to hear about you tummy problems! I've struggled with tummy problems for a long time...pretty much can't eat dairy & very little wheat. Wheat & other grains are so genetically modified now, that I think more & more people are having problems with it. I know so many people who cannot have gluten! Crazy!
I wish I knew something about PSE.....I'll be begging you for help after I get mine...heehee! :)
    Take care!!

  16. I have photoshop, very expensive and I have no idea how to use it! I can't even get a photo to it so I can start editing! It's a wonder how I even blog at all :) Sorry to hear about your tummy issues! It's terrible how they have changed our food systems these days, no wonder people are getting sick.
I loved your food shot! I want some of that pie! Yummy!

  19. Melinda,

Your blog is just....delightful! I don't use that word very often...not sure why, now that I think about it. But that is the word for your blog - just delightful. It really lifts my spirit.

And I just GROANED about your photorot...ahem...I mean, photoshop program. I call it "photorot" as in rot in hell because I am a yeller too and I have owned it, well actually, it has owned me for several years and I DON'T GET IT! And it makes me so angry because I am pretty darn computer literate, and for some reason, this program has me beat. I have done the online tutorials (ALL of which, I hate and can't follow), I have the book, which none of the instructions do nothing for me, and the only thing I have learned (SORT OF) is just of late is to watermark my photos and even with that, I am sure I am doing it the very hard and very slow way. I use aperture program myself. So, actually, all my photos are "as is" with adjustments as needed (or as I want them) from Aperture. I guess I am not that computer literate after all!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and visiting....I am a little addicted to "my girls" as I call them, too!

    Big hug
    Elizabeth :-)
